DILG & DENR Reactivate Provincial Anti-illegal Logging Task Force
To address the recurring illegal logging/timber poaching activities within the province of Laguna, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Laguna in partnership with DILG Laguna, the Provincial Government of Laguna, the Laguna Police Provincial Office (LPPO), the Philippine Army, the National Power Corporation, and other stakeholders initiated the reactivation of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (PAILTF).
Said activity which was held last June 15, 2016 at Villa Adelina Peak in Brgy. Longos, Kalayaan, Laguna zeroed-in on the establishment of the Composite Monitoring and Public Assistance Center (CMPAC). According to the DENR, the CMPAC will be manned by personnel from CENRO Pagsanjan, Laguna; CENRO Pagbilao, Quezon; LPPO operatives; and representatives from other government regulatory agencies.
The undertaking was launched by PENRO Laguna to elicit genuine support and cooperation not only among the concerned members of the communities where said illegal forest activities persists, but also from the constituents of the whole province of Laguna.
Guests who delivered their brief messages where PENRO Eleazar Alaira, PENRO Alfredo Palencia, Engineer David Rubio of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), and PB Teodoro Adao III of the host municipality. DILG Laguna on the other hand was represented by LGOO V Reuben Joseph Justo, Section Chief of the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Section (LGMES).
