DILG IV-A Renews Partnership with Batangas State University
The DILG IV-A, in its commitment to strengthen and sustain its first ever Sub-Regional Local Governance Resource Center renewed its partnership with Batangas State University. Engr. Ariel O. Iglesia, CESO V, Assistant Regional Director, DILG IV-A and Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, President, Batangas State University signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last April 29, 2016 at the Lecture Room, International Affairs, CITE Building, Batangas State University, Rizal Avenue Extension, Batangas City. Back in 2014, the first Sub-Regional LGRC was established as part of the DILG IV-A’s continuing advocacy of building learning communities and promoting excellence in local governance through sharing of knowledge.
Engr. Iglesia expressed his gratitude to all the people who contributed to the success of the project during the past years and to the University Management for supporting the Department’s advocacy and discussed other possible areas of engagement. Dr. Ronquillo expressed his appreciation to the DILG IV-A for making them a partner in said endeavor. Aside from the MoU signing, the DILG IV-A LGRC Team conducted an assessment and evaluation of the operation of the LGRC in order to determine how the office could further assist its operations. The team also brought additional knowledge products and reading materials for the LGRC.
Others present during the ceremonial signing were Assoc. Prof. Romeo C. De Castro, Director for Extension Services who oriented the attendees and guests on the flow of the activity and shared recent notable milestones of the University, Ms. Rosario L. Cuevas, University Librarian who presented a report on the LGRC operation, LGOO VI Joseph Ryan Geronimo, Asst. Division Chief, LGCDD, LGOO VI Esther B. Dator of DILG Batangas, DILG IV-A and DILG Batangas staff, and a number of BSU personnel. The DILG IV-A recently extended its invitation to the Local Government Units to also put up LGRC and make knowledge-sharing a way of life in the communities in the region.
