DILG R4A welcomes new LGRC-MSAC partners
Two organizations have been added to the network of the CALABARZON Local Governance Resource Center – Multi-sectoral Advisory Committee (LGRC-MSAC) as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office IV-A formalized partnership with the Laguna AAA Water Corporation and Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL).
With the goal of promoting a culture of learning and knowledge sharing in pursuit of sustainable development through excellence in local governance, DILG IV-A Regional Director Manuel Q. Gotis, together with Shoebe Hazel B. Caong, General Manager of Laguna Water and Kenneth R. Sagum of MCL signed a Memorandum of Agreement during the second quarter meeting of LRC-MSAC held on June 26 in Los Baños, Laguna.
Aside from reinforcing the growing community of the LGRC-MSAC, Gotis said the partnership will support the Department in the implementation of its programs, projects, and activities in the region.
“This partnership will further strengthen the commitment of the Department towards strengthening the management and technical competencies of local officials and functionaries,” the Regional Director said.
“With this, we can jointly pool our resources to provide them with access in local governance knowledge and through sharing of knowledge, learning and experience and replication of good practices in local government,” he added.
Under the agreement, the DILG IV-A and its new partner organizations agreed to jointly pool knowledge, expertise, and resources in implementing programs with focus on promoting good governance and social development. The new LGRC-MSAC partners also agreed to provide technical expertise in the conduct of researches for various DILG programs within the thrust of MCL and Laguna Water.
Laguna Water has been DILG IV-A’s partner in various initiatives such as the Manila Bayanihan Program where both organizations teamed up to raise public awareness on adequate sanitation and encourage local government units to champion used water management.
Meanwhile, MCL has been the Department’s active partner in implementing capacity development programs such as the mandatory training for elected Sangguniang Kabataan officials.
As of this writing, the LGRC-MSAC has a total of 40 members composed of National and Regional Line Agencies, State Universities and Colleges, Private Schools, Private Sectors and Civil Society Organizations. —R4A
