About:
Taysan is a second class  municipality used to be a mere barrio called Barrio Mercedes of the Municipality of Rosario. In 1919 a law was passed creating Taysan as a separate and distinct municipality of Batangas. The Municipality of Taysan income source mostly came from the agricultural sector. Poultry and livestock farming are the common source of income in the municipality.

Historical Background:
A legend handed down from generation to generation told that name “Taysan” originated from the word “Atisan” which means a place where atis (a kind of fruit locally known as sugar apple, scientifically known as Anona Squamosa) were in abundance. Other legendary version stated that “Taysan” came from the word “tiis” which means to bear or to suffer with fortitude. It was told that the early inhabitants of the place encountered and experienced hardships and difficulties not only in coming to, but also during their stay in the place. The repeated mispronunciations of the ATISAN and TIISAN, the name TAYSAN was coined and was then recognized as official name of the town.

Geographic Location:
Taysan is located 94 kilometers from Manila and 20 kilometers from the provincial capitol. It is geographically situated between the coordinates 13°45” latitude and 121°11” longitude. It is bounded by the Municipalities of Rosario and Ibaan in the North, the City of Batangas in the West, the Municipality of Lobo in the South, and portion of the Municipality of Rosario in the East. The Municipality’s topography is characterized by a generally low, flat terrain except for five barangays—San Isidro, Guinhawa, Pinagbayanan, Piña and Bacao which are observed as hilly and gently sloping.
