CIDG summons Dela Rosa over Davao EJK probe, Remulla confirms
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Monday confirmed that the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has served a subpoena on Senator Ronaldo “Bato” Dela Rosa in connection with the investigation into alleged extra-judicial killings (EJKs) in the Davao region.
Speaking at a press conference this morning, Remulla read portions of the subpoena directing Dela Rosa to appear before Police Lieutenant Colonel Jerome Jay Ragonton of the PNP-CIDG at Camp Crame in Quezon City on May 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
The DILG chief said the subpoena was served both at the Senator’s residence in Davao del Sur and at his office in the Senate building in Pasay City, requiring him to “clarify matters, execute a sworn affidavit, submit documents and other relevant information in connection with the subject investigation being conducted by the CIDG.”
Remulla said Dela Rosa’s appearance and compliance with the subpoena would be crucial in establishing facts surrounding the alleged EJK cases linked to anti-drug operations during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, when the Senator served as chief of the Philippine National Police.
He also warned that failure to comply with the subpoena may constitute grounds for the filing of an indirect contempt case before the court.
Meanwhile, Remulla clarified that the subpoena issued to Dela Rosa is unrelated to any possible action by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“Again, wala pong kinalaman sa ICC ito, pero kung dumating ang ICC warrant, then we will act on it,” he said.
Dela Rosa has been absent from Senate duties since November 2025 following reports of a possible arrest warrant from the ICC.
