The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) CALABARZON successfully held the JUAN Awards 2025: Gawad Parangal para sa mga Natatanging Barangay on December 2–3, 2025, at the City of Santa Rosa Auditorium, City of Santa Rosa, Laguna, recognizing exemplary barangays and grassroots leaders for their outstanding performance in governance, peace and order, and community development.

Now on its second year, the JUAN Awards has evolved from a simple vision into a regional platform that honors barangays that exemplify dedication, integrity, and excellence in public service. The awards recognize the sustained efforts of barangays in meeting rigorous assessment and audit standards—demonstrating their commitment to good governance and responsive service delivery.

The awarding ceremony highlighted key recognition categories that showcase the core pillars of barangay governance. Foremost among these was the Top Tanod Award, which honored outstanding Barangay Tanods who demonstrated excellence in maintaining peace and order, safeguarding their communities, and supporting drug abuse prevention initiatives. Their dedication affirms the vital role of barangay-level enforcement in ensuring safe, secure, and resilient communities.

The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award (LTIA) honored barangays with effective and efficient dispute resolution mechanisms under the Katarungang Pambarangay. Awardees were recognized for their ability to foster peaceful settlements, reduce case backlogs, and strengthen community harmony through responsive and accessible justice at the grassroots level.

Barangays that excelled in promoting environmental stewardship and community participation were recognized under the KALINISAN Program Awards. This includes exemplary implementation of the Barangay Road Clearing Operations (BaRCO), Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG), and Barangay at Kalinisan Day (BarKaDa) initiatives. These programs highlight barangays’ commitment to maintaining clean, safe, and healthy environments while strengthening the spirit of bayanihan within communities.

The Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB) was conferred upon barangays that passed the stringent assessment across core areas such as Safety, Peace and Order, Financial Administration and Sustainability, and Disaster Preparedness, as well as essential areas including Social Protection and Sensitivity, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, and Environmental Management. The SGLGB award affirms the institutional capacity of barangays to deliver services that are transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of their constituents.

The JUAN Awards 2025 recognized outstanding barangays from the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and Lucena City (HUC) for their exemplary performance in governance and public service. As the awarding ceremony concludes, DILG CALABARZON reiterates that beyond recognition and incentives, the primary objective of these assessments is to sustain the commitment of barangays to uphold public trust and deliver quality service at the grassroots level. The Department extends its congratulations to all awardees for setting benchmarks of excellence and for serving as models of a Matino, Mahusay, at Maaasahang Pamahalaan across the region.
