DILG Champions LGU-Led Free Medical Services as Cornerstone of Community Health
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is throwing its full support behind local government units (LGUs) that are bringing free medical services directly to their constituents, programs that ensure healthcare is not a privilege, but a right accessible to every Filipino.
In Quezon City, Barangay Pinyahan has rolled out its own libreng serbisyong medikal, offering residents free consultations, medicines, and preventive care. The initiative is one of many across the country that demonstrate how barangays and LGUs are stepping up to protect the health and welfare of their people.
“Kalusugan ay hindi dapat maging pribilehiyo kundi karapatan ng bawat mamamayan. Every effort that makes healthcare more accessible is an investment in the dignity and strength of our communities. The DILG stands firm with LGUs that prioritize the health of their people because these efforts save lives, ease burdens on families, and build a stronger nation,” the Department said.
The Department emphasized that these localized health services align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas agenda to provide comprehensive social protection and responsive public services. By empowering LGUs to deliver health programs, the government ensures that no Filipino is left behind in accessing basic care.
The DILG assured that it will continue to guide and support LGUs in sustaining and scaling up these community-based medical programs, recognizing that good health is the foundation of strong, resilient, and progressive communities.
