The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has once again been recognized as one of the Outstanding Accounting Offices in the country, marking its fourth consecutive year of excellence in financial management as cited by the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines, Inc. (AGAP).

DILG Assistant Secretary for Administration, Finance, and Comptrollership Ester A. Aldana received the award on behalf of the Department during AGAP’s 75th Founding Anniversary celebration held in Davao City this week.

The DILG has maintained this distinction every year since 2021, a testament to its strong fiscal discipline and transparent governance. The Department now qualifies for the AGAP Platinum Award, a rare honor granted only to agencies that sustain exemplary performance in accounting and financial reporting for eight consecutive years.

In addition to the DILG Central Office, Regional Offices III, VII, XIII, and the Cordillera Administrative Region were also recognized under the same category, highlighting the Department’s consistent excellence in fiscal management across the country.

The AGAP Outstanding Accounting Office Awards is a national recognition program that honors government institutions: national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and local government units. The same demonstrates excellence in accounting operations and recipients are evaluated based on the accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and compliance of their financial reports, as assessed by AGAP, the Commission on Audit (COA), and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

This latest achievement reaffirms the DILG’s commitment to the Marcos administration’s call for transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service, reflecting the Department’s dedication to fiscal responsibility
and good governance at all levels.

The DILG remains steadfast in upholding sound financial management practices that strengthen public trust and ensure that every peso of public fund is spent with integrity, efficiency, and purpose for the Filipino people.
