The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) today congratulated 93 new lawyers from the DILG Central and Regional Offices and its attached agencies Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) for passing the recent 2020-2021 bar examination.

DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año said that the DILG is proud of each passer and implored them to continue exercising the Department’s ‘Matino, Mahusay, at Maaasahan’ brand of service as they venture on their new journey as lawyers.

“To our new lawyers, I laud you for your diligence despite the difficulties and delays in your Bar [examinations] that is brought about by the pandemic. Nagagalak ako na sa pagtupad ng inyong tungkulin bilang kawani ng Kagawaran, nagawa ninyo pa ring mag-aral at mag-sakripisyo para sa mas magandang kinabukasan, sa pamamagitan ng abogasiya,” Año said.

Passers from the DILG Central Office are Jocelyn V. Pelantagaan-Reyes of National Barangay Operations Office; Keith B. Mengullo and Aldrin James Natial of Legal and Legislative Liaison Service; and, Izza Mari D. Laurio of Center for Federalism and Constitutional Reform Project Management Office.

The DILG Regional Office employees who passed the bar examination are Erika Me U. Gumabol of DILG-MIMAROPA; Hazel O. Deocareza of DILG-Region V; Angelo S. Mahinay, Rhoel A. Tumarao, Michael Vencynth H. Braga and Grace Melanie Lacamiento of DILG-Region VII; Runiel Reel Matorres, Dave Robert Capada and Pierra M. Fuentespina Lamayo of DILG-Region VI; Krystelle Deane C. Sabdula of DILG-Region IX; and, Renz Angelo Umambong and April Joy G. Siongco of DILG-Region II.

“Inaasahan namin na kayo’y magpapatuloy maging matino, mahusay, at maaasahan sa bagong yugto ng inyong mga buhay bilang abogado,” he said, expressing hopes that the new lawyers working in the Department will practice their legal profession as public servants.

“May you all continue to inspire us with your perseverance and properly administer justice in performing your duties as guardians of the law,” he added.

Año also congratulated a total of 77 Bar passers from the BJMP, BFP, NAPOLCOM, and NCMF, four of the Department’s attached agencies, and commended their efforts to pass the exam even amid the high demands of public service and the ongoing COVID-19.

“Passing the Bar exam is no easy feat especially if you are committed to public service in these trying times due to the COVID-19 pandemic kaya naman binabati ko ang ating mga kasama sa BJMP, BFP, NAPOLCOM, at NCMF na ngayon ay bagong mga abogado na,” he said.

BJMP sets a record with 36 BJMP personnel who passed, the highest number of Bar passers in the BJMP history. Among the passers are Marie Grette B. Beneyat, Emil Jay F. Malicay, Eufinel B. Bahena, Aron Paul S. Bartolome, Mary Anne R. Calleja, Solimar A. Catacutan Jr., Rosadel May C. Japson, Blesyl May Mabano-Gadiano, Kenneth Roy A. Pataueg, Gretchen A. Ramis, Mechielle S. Salapang, Rosebelle P. Vasquez, Rona A. Mestiola, Michelle Dulce C. Matias, Alvin A. Neyra, Leandro S. Tang-ey, Emilio B. Gumabay Jr., Edren B. Ibañez, Loudel P. Piscos, Rhomeneo L. Versoza, Petchie Rose G. Espera, Jessie Jim Madarang, Donald B. Quigao, Nolibeth B. Banao, Jimmy G. Paras Jr., Gemma Capupus, Felix G. Mateo Jr., Juvy B. Mintar Jr., Arnel M. Pinmiliw, Czaybeeh E. Dorado, Reinald Raven L. Guerrero, Leilanie M. Banotan, Joy Atienza, Rolan Carlo Campo, Avelino Cariño Jr., Randy T. Malmis and Amenolah P. Macadato.

BFP has also produced 24 new lawyers. mong them are Sheryl L Boncodin from BFP National Headquarters; Ramon Silla and Glen Santiago Canlas from BFP NCR; Randy B. Baconawa, Mary Ann Lenneth R. Manoy and Hamilcar T. Obnamia from BFP Region IV-A; Erwin I. Verzosa, Reymund F. Zuela, Winston John A. Prades and Virginia T. Alim from BFP Region 5; Michael L. Lopez from BFP Region 6; Maricar Gabuya and Sylvil Ramirez from BFP Region 7; Jela B. Dutullo, Rey E. Prudenciado and Hariza Joy Hembra from BFP Region 8; Roque A. Sabijon, Jr. from BFP Region 9; Jocelyn L Depidep from BFP CAR; and, Kaleef Abdullah Mokamad, Maria Estrelietta Goles Lara, Daud Matuguna Macabantog, Fatima Zuhra Kapampangan Marohom and Mohammad Hussein Jumana Ladjagais from BFP BARMM

The 10 Passers from the NAPOLCOM employees are Jessica Vicentino-Asuque, Ralph Leo S. Lofranco and Alexander Kent N. Daguna from the NAPOLCOM Central Office; Ameer Hassan G. Guiling from BARMM; Melody L. Dayag from Region 2; April Elenor C. Juco from Region 3; Rhenfacel J. Manlegro from Region 10; Louella M. Dela Cruz from Region 7; and, Felix Leo V. Loriega and Giovanni L. Pamolag from Region 6.

NCMF gained 7 new lawyers as well, namely: Shaliha Anjierah R. Calaca, Maria Belen “Maryam” A. Al-Namit, Hussein F. Dimaampao, Raisa S. Macabando, Al-Emir Yusoph J. Balt, Abdul Jomar P. Magandia and Simbonaga A. Sarip.

“To our attached agencies, I look forward to working together as partners in our continuous pursuit to serve the public,” Año said.
