The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) strongly denounces the false information circulating online claiming that Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced the suspension of work and classes on August 27, 2025 in several areas of the country.

This is fake news. We clarify that no such announcement has been made by the DILG Secretary. The authority to declare the suspension of government work and classes lies with the Office of the President, local government units, the Department of Education, and other pertinent government agencies. Official advisories are released only through their verified websites and social media pages.

We warn the public that the Facebook page “Philippines Weather Advisory” has repeatedly posted misleading information. We urge our kababayans to be alert, discerning, and to rely only on official government channels for accurate updates.

The Department is already considering legal actions against the perpetrators of this fake news, as spreading false advisories endangers public safety and erodes trust in government institutions.

We call on everyone to stop the spread of unverified information and to help us build a safer and more informed Bagong Pilipinas.
