CALABARZON — In its continuing quest to promote excellence in CALABARZON, the Department of The Interior and Local Government (DILG) successfully completed the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Regional Assessment Team (RAT) Validation for the provincial governments and highly-urbanized city government from June 3-14, 2024.

The following were the validation dates, to wit;
June 3: Laguna Provincial Government;
June 4: Quezon Provincial Government;
June 5: Lucena City Government;
June 7: Batangas Provincial Government;
June 11: Cavite Provincial Government; and
June 14: Rizal Provincial Government

This annual assessment, which is in compliance to Republic Act 11292 (An Act Establishing and Institutionalizing the Seal of Good Local Governance for Local Government Units, and Allocating for This Purpose the Seal of Good Local Governance Fund), is angled towards the promotion of Accountable, Transparent, Participative and Effective Local Governance. To identify this year’s awardees, Local Government Units (LGUs) were assessed based on the following ten (10) governance areas:

  1. Financial Administration;
  2. Disaster Preparedness;
  3. Social Protection and Sensitivity;
  4. Health Compliance and Responsiveness;
  5. Sustainable Education;
  6. Business Friendliness and Competitiveness;
  7. Safety, Peace and Order;
  8. Environmental Management; and
  9. Tourism, Heritage, Development, Culture and Arts.
  10. Youth Development

On-site validations also encompassed inspections of fundamental facilities and services, which include evacuation centers, Material Recovery Facilities (MRF), social and health facilities.

Alongside the RAT, SGLG Sub-RATs, composed of DILG IV-A’s Provincial Offices and their respective teams, conducted validations in their respective cities and municipalities.

These combined efforts led to the successful execution of the SGLG 2024 Validation, and is a dutiful continuation of the commitment of the Local Government Units (LGUs) to meet the standards set forth by the DILG and partner National Government Agencies (NGAs).

 

The DILG IV-A RAT was composed of Assistant Regional Director Darrell I. Dizon as Team Leader, with DILG Provincial Directors, PD Danilo Nobleza of Cavite, PD Jay Beltran of Laguna, PD Allan Benitez of Batangas, PD Lionel Dalope of Rizal, and PD Abigal Andres of Quezon, and City Director of Lucena, Engr. Vilma De Torres as members. Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc. and Batangas State University were also part of the team.
