DILG: PNP to Double Deployment for Undas Rush
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), together with the Philippine National Police (PNP), will double its on-ground deployment of police personnel this year to ensure a ligtas, maayos, at mapayapang observance of Undas 2025.
During the DILG Media Forum hosted by DILG Public Affairs and Communication Service Director Salvacion Baccay on Tuesday, PNP Public Information Office Chief Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said that a total of 50,253 police personnel will be deployed nationwide, more than twice last year’s deployment of around 21,000 officers.
Of the total, 2,288 will be assigned to airports, 1,771 to bus stations, and 1,054 to seaports to assist travelers and returning residents. Meanwhile, 35,661 personnel will be stationed in 5,065 cemeteries and columbaria across the country, and 6,475 will be deployed to motorist assistance hubs and major thoroughfares.
An additional 16,592 uniformed personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and other allied agencies will also be mobilized to provide public assistance and emergency response.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary Maricar Bautista assured that the country’s transportation systems are fully prepared for the Undas rush, emphasizing that all ports, terminals, and railways have been inspected and placed on heightened alert to manage the expected surge of passengers and tourists.
The DILG also reported that 45,712 force multipliers composed of barangay tanods, radio groups, and civic organizations will be mobilized to assist the PNP in maintaining civilian safety and orderliness in all public areas.
To further enhance emergency response, the DILG confirmed the full activation of the Unified 911 system nationwide during the Undas period. The system has recorded a 23 percent increase in legitimate emergency calls, equivalent to 19,761 verified calls received by the PNP since its relaunch last September 11, reflecting its improved responsiveness and public trust.
The DILG and the PNP stressed that these comprehensive preparations are in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to guarantee a safe, stable, and secure Undas celebration. This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to public safety, effective coordination, and efficient government service under the vision of Bagong Pilipinas.
