ATTY. BENJAMIN C. ABALOS, JR.
DILG Secretary
I would like to commend the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel for their swift action on the fire that broke out at the main wing of the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.
As a result of their quick response, the fire was already declared under control at around 3:45 pm or barely 45 minutes after it started.
A total of 13 firetrucks and one ambulance were deployed to the site.
As it is, foremost among our concerns is the safety of the patients, doctors, medical staff and all the people in the area.
Hence, we have instructed the BFP to ensure that the whole PGH area is declared safe before allowing everyone to go back inside the hospital.
We will provide updates on this incident as soon as details are available.
In the meantime, we advise our citizens to do their part to prevent the occurrence of fire in their areas.
