DILG STATEMENT ON TPO ISSUED BY DAVAO RTC BRANCH 15
August 28, 2024
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) takes note of the reported Temporary Protection Order (TPO) issued by the Davao Regional Trial Court Branch 15 concerning the recent police operation in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
The TPO ordered the PNP PRO XI to “immediately cease and desist from any act or omission that threatens the life, liberty, or security as well as the properties of the petitioners.”
Further, the TPO ordered to PNP PRO XI to “remove all forms of barricades, barriers or blockades that bar the access to and from the subject compound and hinder petitioners’ religious, academic and propriety rights and the pursuit thereof by its officers and members within and surrounding the premises.”
We will seek clarification from RTC Branch 15 considering that the police operations and barricades do not pose a threat to life, liberty or security of KOJC members. Rather, these are only being done pursuant to the lawful enforcement of the warrants of arrest from the Pasig City RTC Branch 159 and Davao City RTC Branch 12.
In any case, it is very clear that there is no express directive from Davao City RTC Branch 15 ordering the PNP to vacate the KOJC premises or to stop the service of the warrants of arrest. Therefore, the PNP will continue to carry out its duty to serve the warrants of arrest against Apollo Quiboloy and his co-accused, with due respect to human rights and the legal process.
We will continue to uphold the sanctity of the justice system and the rule of law.
