DILG Strengthens Ties with the Arab Republic of Egypt
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) welcomed His Excellency Nader Zaki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt, during a courtesy call on DILG Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla, joined by Undersecretary for Peace and Order Nestor B. Sanares and Assistant Secretary for International Relations Lilian M. De Leon, together with Mr. Ahmed Hany, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the Arab Republic of Egypt, anchored on shared interests in peace and security, good governance, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
Discussions focused on potential areas of cooperation between Egypt’s Ministry of Interior and the DILG, particularly in institutional strengthening, public safety, and governance reforms. Both sides emphasized the value of constructive dialogue, professional exchange, and sustained engagement between institutions.
Secretary Remulla highlighted the Department’s continuing efforts to advance institutional reforms, uphold the rule of law, and promote peaceful and diplomatic approaches in addressing shared regional and global concerns. The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism for continued collaboration and mutually beneficial initiatives moving forward.
