The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the Unified 911 Emergency Hotline continues to strengthen emergency response nationwide, helping save lives and reduce injuries in road accidents and other emergencies.

In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness, Unified 911 has become a critical lifeline for Filipinos in urgent and life-threatening situations.

Since its launch in 2025, the Unified 911 system has recorded an efficiency rate of 97.23 percent, demonstrating its effectiveness in ensuring that emergency calls are promptly received, processed, and acted upon.

Through close coordination among local government units (LGUs), the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), emergency medical services, and hospitals, the system enables the rapid dispatch of responders and the timely delivery of medical assistance.

One recent example was a collision involving a bus and a jeepney in Butuan City. After an emergency call was placed to 911, responders were immediately dispatched to the scene, resulting in six injured individuals being brought to hospitals for treatment.

In another incident in San Juan, La Union, Unified 911 facilitated a response time of just three minutes following a road accident. Five injured individuals received immediate first aid before being transported to Bacnotan District Hospital for further medical care.

The DILG emphasized that in emergencies, particularly road accidents, immediate response can make the difference between life and death.

“Maaasahan ang 911 sa mabilis na pagresponde ng mga frontliners sa mga aksidente sa lansangan at iba pang emergency. Kaya hinihikayat natin ang publiko na gamitin nang tama at responsable ang 911 upang agad na maalalayan ang mga nangangailangan ng tulong,” the DILG said.
