Galing ng Pamahalaang Lokal: DILG incentivizes LGU good performance through SGLGIF

Good governance must not only be recognized. It must be rewarded.

This is the principle behind the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), a financial incentive granted to local government units (LGUs) that pass the Seal of Good Local Governance and demonstrate excellence in public service delivery.

The SGLGIF, formerly known as the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), is one of the DILG’s flagship performance-based recognition programs. It directly supports priority local development projects identified in LGUs’ Local or Provincial Development Investment Programs.

From 2022 to 2024, a total of 1,232 local projects have been funded through the SGLGIF. Of these, 708 or 45.41 percent are completed, 384 or 24.63 percent are ongoing, and the rest are in various stages of implementation.

These projects cover key governance areas under the SGLG criteria. Safety, peace and order top the list with 270 projects, followed by 267 under business friendliness and competitiveness, and 220 for disaster preparedness.

In Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, residents expressed their gratitude for the SGLGIF-funded Municipal Housing Project. “Napakalaking bagay sa amin dahil umula’t umaraw, wala kaming pangamba dahil napaka-safe nung ginawa sa aming pabahay, tsaka matibay,” shared one beneficiary.

In Quirino, Provincial Administrator Carmelita Jimenez hailed the program as a reflection of LGUs’ drive for service excellence during the inauguration of the provincial capitol pathway, promenade, and slope protection project. “The SGLGIF serves as a testament to our commitment to improving services for the constituents, as reflected in the increasing number of LGUs receiving the prestigious award,” she said.

In Balanga City, Bataan, the major rehabilitation of Narra Street, a 50-year-old road in Barangay Tenejero, was made possible through the SGLGIF. The project is projected to benefit around 100,000 residents.

With the SGLGIF, the DILG reinforces its commitment to results-driven governance. We do not reward promises. We reward action, results, and real service that changes lives.
