MORE THAN 4,000 CAVITE FARMERS, FISHERFOLK FAMILIES RECEIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

TAGAYTAY CITY, CAVITE — Some 4,233 farmers and fisherfolk families from various cities and municipalities in the Province of Cavite each received a cash incentive of P10,000 under the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFFF) Program at the Tagaytay International Convention Center on Friday here.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. led the distribution of financial aid where he reiterated the goal of PAFFF program to provide support and assistance to the agricultural sector, especially those affected by the recent typhoons in the CALABARZON region.

“Ang mahigit apat na libo’t dalawang daang magsasaka at mangingisda na naapektuhan ng Bagyong Kristine at Leon ay pagkakalooban ng sampung libong piso upang muling makabangon at mapalago ang inyong kabuhayan. Patuloy ang ating pagsusumikap maibalik sa normal ang kalagayan ng mga Caviteño at mga karatig na probinsya ng CALABARZON,” the President said.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the national government to continue to assist Filipinos greatly impacted by the recent typhoons.

“Inaatasan ko rin ang lahat ng ahensya at lokal na pamahalaan na maging puspusan pa sa paghahanda laban sa mga [paparating] na kalamidad pa upang maiwasan ang pinsalang dinanas natin sa mga nakalipas.

PBBM also mentioned his instruction to key government agencies on the use of the Geohazard Map as guide in identifying landslide and flood-prone areas, and to review existing flood control master plans.

He said the Cavite Industrial Area – Flood Risk Area Management Project, which is expected to be completed in 2029,  will hopefully prevent severe flooding in the San Juan River Basin and Maalimango Creek Drainage Area.

Among those present during the PAFFF event were Senator Francis Tolentino; Secretaries Juanito Victor C. Remulla of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Francisco Liu Tatad, Jr. of the Department of Agriculture, and Rex Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare Development; and Governor Athena Bryana D. Tolentino.

DILG IV-A Regional Director Ariel O. Iglesia and Provincial Director Danilo A. Nobleza were also present to oversee and ensure the safe and orderly distribution of PAFFF.
