ATTY. BENJAMIN C. ABALOS, JR.
Secretary

I condemn in the strongest terms all actions and omissions committed by public servants most especially members of law enforcement agencies, that are violative of existing laws and policies.

Law-breaking policemen have no place in the police organization.

In this regard, I have already ordered a thorough probe on the case of PLTCOL Mark Julio U. Abong who recently figured in an unprovoked gun-firing incident in front of a restobar in Scout Rallos Street, Quezon City.

LTCOL Abong’s unwanted actuations smack of abuse of power and authority by a man in uniform, and I will not tolerate that.

I have also ordered a comprehensive background check on his current status at the PNP, so that appropriate actions could be taken.

He was already slapped with complaints for Violation of Illegal Discharge of Firearm, RA 10591, Violation of Omnibus Election Code, Physical Injury, Slander by Deed and Disobedience upon and Agent of Person in Authority have been filed before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office.

The Administrative Complaint is now referred to the Internal Affairs Service of the PNP.

I commend the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for its swift action that resulted in the apprehension of PLTCOL Abong.

The public is assured that as Chair of the National Police Commission and Secretary of DILG, I will see to it that justice will be served and the full force of the law would be applied to him if he is found guilty.

We will do everything in our power to protect the integrity of our police force and the interests of the victims and the public.
