In a continued effort to promote transparency and ensure proper use of public funds, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), through the Bureau of Local Government Development (BLGD), is conducting on-site validations of local projects funded by the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF).

This initiative aligns with the mandate of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to strengthen transparency in government-funded programs. By validating these projects on the ground, the DILG aims to ensure that allocated resources are being used effectively to benefit communities.

The validation activities, which began in July, involve DILG teams visiting various regions to assess the implementation of projects funded under the SGLGIF. Just recently, the validation team visited the municipalities of Compostela and Maragusan, and the City of Mati in Davao Region. These areas are home to SGLGIF-funded projects that have made a significant impact on residents.

Recipients of the program shared their enthusiasm over the construction of the noted projects and their conclusive impact on their way of living, which underscores the positive response of the community to the programs of their respective LGUs.

In Maragusan, the installation of solar-powered streetlights has greatly improved safety and visibility for passersby. A resident shared how the streetlights have provided much-needed illumination during power outages.

Meanwhile, the Maragusan Children’s Park and Playground has become a safe haven for children, offering a space for recreation and community bonding. Parents expressed their gratitude for the park, which promotes physical activity and social interaction among young residents.

In Compostela, a footbridge constructed along Purok 5 in Brgy. Poblacion has enhanced pedestrian safety, especially for children and the elderly. One local farmer highlighted the convenience and security the footbridge has provided, ensuring safer access to vital services.

In Mati, a food stall vendor near the newly built Food Shop with Sanitary Facility emphasized the importance of a clean and safe environment for food preparation, noting the positive impact on public health and safety.

As of the 2025 validation period, a total of 32 SGLGIF projects have been successfully validated by the DILG. Moving forward, the DILG aims to continue its monitoring, assessment, and validation efforts to ensure that SGLGIF funds are utilized properly and quality government services are delivered with adequate transparency and accountability.
