The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) teamed up with another giant media network in its anti-illegal drugs advocacy campaign with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with ABS-CBN Corporation on Thursday afternoon to support and promote the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” (BIDA) program.
DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos expressed his gratitude to the ABS-CBN management for getting on board in the BIDA campaign, saying that many ABS-CBN artists can serve as role models of the Filipino youth for healthy and clean living.
“Ang tinatarget ng droga ay ang mga bata, at may mga role-models sila. Kung ang mga bata ay babaguhin natin ang lifestyle, which should be healthy, malaking bagay. Dito papasok ang tinatawag nilang role modeling,” he said.
“Alam natin ang ABS-CBN ay talagang sikat po sila rito. Marami kayong mga artista na talagang role models of the youth. Malaking bagay po ito, kaya nagpapasalamat po kami sa ABS-CBN for this MOA signing,” he added.
Abalos said the BIDA program is a whole-of-nation approach which involves various government agencies, all sectors of the society, including the church, the family, and the community, to help in drug demand reduction in the communities.
“Mga kapamilya, mga kababayan, itong laban na ito ay laban natin para sa mga anak natin, para sa kinabukasan nila at ng ating bansa. Magtulungan tayo, hindi tayo papatalo rito. Ang importante rito, pagtutulungan, pagkakaisa para sa ating kinabukasan,” he stressed.
In the MOA, ABS-CBN will post the 30-second BIDA infomercial across various video contents on iwantTFC and geo-blocked to the Philippine Territory for a period of one year until October 25, 2024. The company will also post three new videos provided by the DILG to the ABS-CBN Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter social media pages.
Meanwhile, the DILG shall deliver to ABS-CBN the materials for the BIDA Infomercials based on video content requirements of iwantTFC and allow placement of the BIDA infomercials on a run-of-site basis.
Present during the MOA signing were ABS-CBN Corporation Chairperson Mark Lopez, ABS-CBN President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN Chief Operating Officer Cory Vidanes, Mr. Laurenti Dyogi, Head, TV Production, and Mr. Ricardo Tan, Jr. Tan, Chief Financial Officer.
Last month, the DILG also sealed an agreement with GMA-7 Sparkle Artist Center, making GMA 7’s Sparkle artists as BIDA ambassadors.
